Nathan Bailey N5REL Appointed Section Technical Coordinator

Aug 10, 2017

North Texas Section Manager Jay Urish W5GM set out to fill the vacant slot when he took the reins in April.  He reviewed the qualifications and availability of several amateur radio operators in the section, and decided Nathan N5REL was the best fit for the position.

The Technical Coordinator (TC) is a section-level official appointed by the Section Manager to coordinate all technical activities within the section. The Technical Coordinator reports to the Section Manager and is expected to maintain contact with other section-level appointees as appropriate to insure a unified ARRL Field Organization within the section.

From his QRZ.com profile, here's a quick bio about Nathan:

Hello from Northeast Texas / Hopkins County / EM23. The name here is Nathan and my callsign is N5REL, aka "November Five Robert E. Lee."
Husband. Father. Dork.

I have lived in Sulphur Springs just about all of my life. Graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1988.

I earned my ticket in 1990 while a student at Tyler Junior College, but have been around ham radio most of my life because of my father (WD5EHI). My original callsign was KB5MZW. In August 1995 I graduated from East Texas State University with a BS - Economics. A few days after graduating from ETSU, I took a job with Elliott Electric Supply and now cover a large portion of Northeast Texas as an Outside Salesman.

In the summer of 2006 I married my wife, SuZanne, and on Memorial Day 2008 we became parents of a tiny, precious miracle baby. Kadyn arrived on the scene about three months sooner than anticipated, but thanks to the healing hand of God and the fine folks at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas our little girl is doing great.

On the ham bands I enjoy VHF/UHF (6m thru 70cm, including 220) and HF SSB. 17, 40 and 75 are my favorite HF bands.  I serve as trustee/control operator on several repeaters near my QTH (146.68, 145.11, 224.58 and 444.825) and proud of my affiliation with the the NCTC Link System and Freedom Link Group (WX5FL).

Some of my other interests are golf, photography, weather, railroads and rock music at high decibel levels.

Best Wishes, Stay Frosty, God Bless and 73 de N5REL

Welcome Nathan N5REL to the North Texas Section Field Organization team!
